Sustainable, successful businesses think about conduct

I help businesses think differently about conduct.

Think differently about regulation, especially financial regulation. About compliance. About licence requirements.

Think differently about attitudes and behaviour. About values, governance, process, people.

Think differently about what customers experience.

Based in Auckland, I run a private consulting practice - Knax Consulting Limited - helping clients in New Zealand and Australia with a wide range of conduct and compliance activities.

Currently, I'm chair of the Financial Advice Code Working Group.

I am a Chartered Accountant and hold a Masters degree in Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales.

For much of my career I've been a financial services regulator.

17 years (1990-2008) with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, including four years as Regional Commissioner of the Western Australian Regional Office.

Three years (2008-11) with the New Zealand Securities Commission (predecessor of the Financial Markets Authority) as director responsible for the implementation of the Financial Advisers Act.

I was an independent board member (2012-16) of the Professional Advisers Association and in that role helped unify the advice profession into what is now Financial Advice New Zealand.
